“A smooth sea never made a skillful sailor.” -Franklin D. Roosevelt

Franklin D. Roosevelt (1882-1945) was the 32nd President of the United States. He made a lot of contributions to the American society and most especially to the world. He helped America to get through the state of Great Depression. He gave hope to the people after the dilemmas of World War II. He even had the campaign song entitled “Happy Days Are Here Again”, in one with restoring hope of the society.

On this famous quote of FDR, what he is trying to convey us is that, hardships and tough times are what makes us. We may often get discouraged or get disappointed by life’s downfalls but its part of the preparation for a grander plan. A plan that will get us to where we always wanted to be. It pushes us to fight for our goals and to fight for the journey. When we are faced with these problems and challenges, we learn to find solutions to get through it. We may encounter mistakes, but this is where we learn our lessons, lessons that will hone us to become better version of ourselves. We master the process of turning hardships and difficulties into easy ones. The more ‘waves’ we encounter, the more we’d be great at sailing. Life is a constant battle. Most things are not as bad as you think they are. They are there to make our destination worthwhile. Stay motivated!
